Diego Da Silva - UK move and Brazilian Hopes

Brazilian-born Spanish footballer Diego Da Silva Costa has undergone a medical examination with the intention of moving to British club giants, Chelsea, according to reports. The Atletico Madrid striker, who is currently competing in the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, is close to completing a deal that will see him move to Stamford Bridge, as reported by both the BBC and The Guardian. The move is expected to cost Chelsea approximately £32 million.

Diego, 25, scored 27 League goals and 8 Championship League goals last season as a center forward for Atletico, and notably led the team to victory over Chelsea by scoring from the penalty spot during the Champions League semi final. The international football star has been with the Madrid based club since 2007 after initially starting his career with Portugal's Sporting Braga. He then went on loan to various clubs returning to Atletico in 2010.

Significant time spent in Spain saw Diego Da Silva obtain dual nationality and he finally committed to playing for the country after a few friendly games as Brazil's star striker. After recovering from a hamstring injury, he received the news that he would feature in the all-important 11 for the World Cup. Da Silva has so far played one game for Spain in the tournament against Netherlands which saw the team receive a devastating 5-1 defeat.
