Checo Perez

Sergio Perez Mendoza, also called Checo Perez, was born January 26, 1990. He is a Mexican race car driver and currently drives for Force India. In 2012, it was reported that Perez had signed a 15 million Euro deal with Force India. He has been dubbed the Mexican Wunderkind due to his age and superior racing performance.

Perez was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco and has a brother and sister. His brother, Antonio Perez, competes in the Toyota series for NASCAR, which is a racing championship for stock cars in Mexico.

Perez debuted the Checo Perez Foundation in November of 2012 to support children suffering from cancer and orphans. Perez's sister Poala is the president of the foundation.

Until 2012, Checo Perez was a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy. At the Malaysian Grand Prix with Sauber the same year, he took his Formula One podium for the first time.

In 2013, Perez joined McLaren, but the car didn't give a single-podium finish, which resulted in one of the worst years for the McLaren team since 1980. Perez was replaced in 2014 by Danish driver Kevin Magnussen.
